The Kershaw County Planning Commission

The KCPC is dedicated to fostering the orderly and harmonious development of Kershaw County, South Carolina. As an advisory body, the Commission engages in a continuous planning program that addresses the physical, social, and economic growth of the unincorporated areas within the county. Our responsibilities include preparing and periodically updating the Comprehensive Plan, recommending amendments to zoning ordinances and land development regulations, and reviewing subdivision requests and land development projects. We are committed to promoting public health, safety, and general welfare by guiding development in accordance with the county's long-term vision and the needs of its residents. The Planning and Zoning Commission meets on the second Monday of each month at 5:30 pm in the Council Chambers at the Kershaw County Government Center.

Mission Statement

The Kershaw County Planning Commission is committed to ensuring that the Comprehensive Plan reflects the values, priorities, and long-term vision of our community. Our mission is to carefully review, refine, and strengthen the draft plan provided by consultants, using data-driven insights and meaningful public input to create a roadmap for responsible growth, economic vitality, and quality of life improvements.

Over the next six months, we will engage residents, businesses, and stakeholders in an open and transparent process, ensuring that every voice is heard. By working collaboratively, we aim to develop a clear, actionable, and community-focused plan that balances progress with preservation, guiding Kershaw County toward a prosperous and sustainable future.
